 Brief
Introduction of CHSAUKey major research base on the humanities and social science established by National Ministry of Education——The Center for Hui Studies of Anhui University (CHSAU). CHSAU is an entity research institution recombined in 1999,and it is among the first 15 normal high school major research bases by the approval of Ministry of Education. Present chairman of CHSAU is Pro. Zhu Wanshu, and Chairman of Learning Committee is Pro. Qu Lindong of Beijing Normal University. CHSAU preserves over 12,000 ancient Huizhou documents and files, including various hand-written copies, genealogies and collected works, which amounted more than 500 kinds. At present, nine significant projects are on research. Academic seminar on Hui Study has been held for six times successfully. Under the CHSAU, there establishes Huizhou Ancient Documents Research Office, Huizhou Official Dispatches Research Office. Huizhou Social Economic History Research Office, Huizhou Literature and Art Research Office, Huizhou Cultural Resources Development and Research Office, etc. There are altogether 15 full-time researchers and 15 pare-time researchers. CHSAU now is devoting itself to researches on three aspects: Direction of Huizhou ancient /original documents and files: The historical documents preserved is extremely rich in quantity, including not only traditional ancient books and documents, but also about 300,000 folk agreement documents, which are paid attention to by historiography field. And they constitute the academic basis of Hui Study on the aspect of collection, arrangement, publication and research of Huizhou works, Huizhou documents and other comprehensive and specific materials, the full-time and part-time researchers have attained great achievements, “Dai Zhen Collected Works” “Huizhou Historical File Catalogue Summery ” “Xin’an Collection of Medicine ” “Xin’an Clan Records” and such special subjects collections and works have been compiled into 26 categories, amount to 7 million words. And the Journal of the research materials on Hui Studies is to be published, including many important documents such as 《新安文献志》《太函集》《新安学系录》and the like The rational and provincial Huizhou historical records collection and research subjects that have been accomplished or being worked on by CHSAU is nearly 20.The first draft of 《徽州文献综录》has been finished, and other significant projects such as ‘Newly discovered Huizhou Documents Collection ’ ‘Huizhou Medical Documents Collection’ are on research. In the direction of Huizhou social economic history: Since Tang and Song Dynasties, Huizhou area has gradually formed unique social structure on the base of clan system and unique regional culture. Xin’an 理学，Huizhou traders, Huizhou literature and art, and a large number of outstanding historical figures have left great impact influences on Chinese history. Since 1980s, the regional research on Huizhou, which is on the base of documents and with a combination of country investigation, has attracted intensive attention of internal and international academic field. Many scholars from Japan, America, S. Korea, Britain, Dutch and the like have chosen ‘Huizhou Regional Culture’ as research subject. The research on the field is with the feature of cross of multiple discipline and synthetic research. Besides, on Huizhou clan, Huizhou traders, Huizhou folk laws, Huizhou folk art, Huizhou historical figures, Huizhou architectural cultures and other aspects, a grade of academic results have been published, such as《两驿集》《徽州宗族研究》《胡宪宗清传》。The significant project ‘Investigation and Study of the Cultural Remains of Huizhou’ is to be accomplished, and other projects of ‘Research on Huizhou Laws, Documents and Folk Laws’ ‘Research on Xin’an Academic History’ ‘Research and Development of Huizhou Villages’ are on progress too. In direction of development and exploitage of Huizhou cultural resources: The cultural resources of Huizhou and peripheral areas/regions have become important resources of developing tourism economy. CHSAU will actively push forward with transforming cultural resources into tourism resources in order to serve the regional autonomic development. On the other hand, through scientific researches, CHSAU is calling for the protection of cultural resources and advocating sustainable tourism development .The two significant subjects that are going on are “Hangshan City Tourism Sustainable Development Research” and “Development and Exploitage of Huizhou Villages”. The achievements /fruits supply counsel service for government and relating departments, enterprises. Except developing /launching every day academic research activities, CHSAU also edits a large-scaled publication annually, and ‘News Reports on Hui Studies’ transforming academic information. What’s more, CHSAU enrolls doctors majoring in historical documents and postgraduates on special history, Chinese philosophy, Chinese ancient literature, Chinese ancient documents, drama and traditional opera, sociology, etc. in order to foster the fellow-up researcher group. |
